 Tilt-Recordings news: upcoming releases etc |

Tilt-Recordings will release only Clownstep and Rock'n'Roll from now on.
Seriously though: after some relative silence since the release of the first 15 T-Files tunes and TILT009, Tilt-Recordings (and T-Files) is "back" with more content in the pipeline.
T-File 013 (digital-only) by latvian newcomer Plater is already available since the end of January, T-FILE014 by world famous superstars Isotop + Kaiza has been released just yesterday and the next weeks/months will see many more releases. Also, the musical range of the T-Files series will stretch a little bit as there are a few melodic rollers on the schedule aside from more strictly technoid bangers.
Also, the tenth vinyl release on Tilt-Recordings is in the making. Testpressings of TILT010 have arrived at the main skyscraper in the Tilt-Recoprdings empire estate two weeks ago (and the mastering is just as it should be) and full artwork copies are in the making right now, so the vinyl release should arrive in record shops in March.
Of course, the tunes of TILT010 will also be available in digital shops like Beatport, Digital Tunes, Juno etc - just a few (maybe 3) weeks after the vinyl release, so the vinyl supporters get them a little faster. But anyway the tunes are kept locked and 100% secret until shortly before the release date, as usual. They are not rinsed to death on parties, radio shows and tapepacks by some dubplate elite, so they will still be fresh when they come into the shops!
The Tilt-Recordings Mix Podcast series will soon see its next installment, too, introducing T3K... And more material is coming of T-FREE as well.

"Sherpa" does not take prisoners in any way:
after a short 40-seconds intro built on a pad and
the reverb-ridden beat being filtered in like the
reflections of shadows emerging from a dark past,
it drops directly with a seemingly static bassline
and the fast paced 2-step beat with a huge woven-in
syncopated stab construction in counter-dynamic
interaction with occasionally showing wooden toms,
the pitching of these rythmic elements being the
closest thing to melody throughout the enire tune.
The bassdrum keeps changing it's position and the
tune plays with the halfbar Techno-DNB loop scheme,
rythm and counter-dynamics staying the lead theme.

After his debut tune "Funky" on Naturality Sound System
and "Life In Coma" on a Black Hoe / T-FREE collaboration,
Plater enters T-Files with his third released tune so far:
a Techno-DNB tool based on a simple but effective halfbar
loop with many mini-breaks and an almost unmixable intro.
Besides making rythm-based technoid tunes like this one,
Plater experiments with different elements of Drum & Bass:

to melodic Jump Up with folklore percussion instruments.

Isotop has also done experimental solo tunes,
playing around with music styles and elements.
Some will get released in 2009 and some never,
so Isotop decided to give these three to T-FREE,
an EP of fast-paced, subtle technoid steppers
with reverb constructions and midrange hybrids.

Since summer 2008, Isotop and Kaiza have done many
collaboration tunes together, and in December they
had their digital deejaying debut, working together
also as a team of ableton live performers.
Their first collaboration getting released was
"Headroom" on kr4y and Arje's Beat Addiction label,
now here is the second one: a subtle, funky stepper.

Plater is a still unknown newcomer from Estonia,
bringing a dense Techno-DNB roller with a crazy snare.
Isotop from Kaiserslautern (Germany) had his vinyl
debut in 2008 and Kaiza from Mannheim (Germany)
should be known from his releases on T-FREE and
Tilt-Recordings together with his former partner.
They bring a subtle Techno-DNB tune with 4/4 break.

The Tilt-Recordings Mix Podcast series starts with a liveact showcase by the Phalanx.
This young newcomer recently appeared on the Drum & Bass scene for the first time with the vinyl release of TILT009 (including "Assembler" by Isotop + Shots feat. The Phalanx); now he enters the world of digital deejaying with his liveact performance, using Ableton Live and analog gear.
When performing, The Phalanx uses exclusive tunes from his crew mates and other producers as well as tunes from labels like Tilt-Recordings, T-Files and T-FREE. The most interesting ingredient to his liveact, however, are his ableton-based semi-tunes which he arranges live in real-time, forming "tunes" which do not exist outside of his liveact. Also, he manipulates regular tunes by chopping them up, adding loops and samples, layering and building breaks, creating moments of surprise even for people who know the tunes.
In short: He actually makes use of the potential of Ableton Live rather than just pressing the "play" button.

T-FREE053: Proktah - "Labyrinth"
Proktah aka Frenchi from Konstanz, Germany is not a total newcomer:
He already has his name printed on 7 vinyl records on the labels
Trust in Music, Have-A-Break and his own imprint Flight Recordings.
Also he has done a remix for the Basswerk Sessions 3 CD compilation.
And more of his tunes are forthcoming on labels like Melting Pot,
.shadybrain, Close2Death and, of course, Flight Recordings.
His tune "Labyrinth" was released on Have-A-Break 010 only as a remix,
done by Phace, yet the original tune did not come out until now.

After the split from amex (see www.myspace.com/amexandkaiza ),
Bad Boy Kaiza aka Kaiza took a short break from producing tunes.
He concentrated on deejaying and organizing the "iDrums" events
in Mannheim for one and a half year, realizing the old dream of a
monthly club night without bigname headliners, only with him and his
Trio-Music crew mate DJ Hektik as residents and occasional guests.
Also, he managed to make 87 Drum & Bass Mixes, 258 Reggae/Dancehall
mixes and 13 HipHop mixes in his studio absence, besides broadcasting
a huge number of theme based Specials in his weekly radio show "DMF"
(which btw has been running for 7 years now, and is still continuing).
Now, in the end of 2008, he comes forward for his 475th comeback:
Besides making solo tunes again and finishing many old projects,
Kaiza joined forces with Isotop, Shots and The Phalanx.

This is due to an ongoing file system change on our server for the sake of enabling the implementation of podcasts (soon coming).

"ADAM Power" is a collaboration project between
Lowfly and Cuzitich from St. Petersburg in Russia.
They have both been taking interest in Drum & Bass
for 8 years, but up to now they neither have had any
releases nor do they run a website or myspace profile.

"Xanax" is a collaboration between the Ukraine and Poland.
Stereotype (see T-FREE043) and Structural, the man who gave
the world the Mechaplex Promo Mix (also see T-FREE029),
made a king size tool that combines a classical dark atmo
and industrial stabs with room depth over a straight beat.
"Ultimate technology" is one of Stereotype's very best
solo tunes so far. It creates a lot of energy by building
up layers of stabs arranged in call-and-response patterns
and a rich array of percussion elements on different levels
over a subtly accentuated snare and compact kickdrums,
merging all the elements into a powerful loop structure
accompanied by a properly rolling and driving bassline.

Sunchase is a name which assumedly needs no introduction.
Since 2004 he has released on Drum & Bass labels such as
Moving Shadow, Hostile, Full Force, Recon, Revolution,
M-Atome, Sinuous, ELP Collective, DSCI4, Citrus and Fokuz.
Also, he has released Techno and Breakz tunes on vinyl.
Now he delivers the first EP on T-Files, bringing two more
Drum & Bass tunes: "Im Not Dead" is a dark Neurofunk tool
with a classic, spooky athmosphere while "Xirod" combines
Neurofunk with Minimal elements in a Drum & Bass structure.

After the well received release of TILT008 in the beginning of 2008,
Tilt-Recordings took a break from releasing vinyl records.
Instead, the digital-only series "T-Files" has been launched and started
releasing tunes by artists such as Spinor, Pyro + Mundane, Redco, Tamas,
Kaiza feat. amex + D-Struct, Matt Domino, kr4y, Walder, Asphexia and Kriotek
(more tunes by other interesting artists on T-Files are to follow soon).
But now, Tilt-Recordings returns to releasing tunes on vinyl with TILT009:
a tearing Techno-DNB tune by the newcomers Isotop + Shots feat. The Phalanx
and a fine Neurofunk number for the dancefloor by the one and only Budoka.
Isotop + Shots feat. The Phalanx - "Assembler"
Their surprising debut release on T-FREE in January 2008, "Burning Identity", drew attention to Isotop + Shots and brought them quite some respect within the Techno-DNB scene. After their experimental follow-up "Dioxin" on T-Files, Isotop + Shots and their partner The Phalanx now enter the vinyl dragon with their very first collaboration: Tilt-Recordings proudly presents "Assembler", a totally boring tune with a boring beat and a boring bassline. It seems safe to predict that all this boring will instantly put these three Palatines on the world map of Drum & Bass and into the hall of Techno-DNB fame for good.
Budoka - "Aether"
Since 2001, Budoka has worked hard on his production skills and slaved in the studio, crafting tunes and developing his own handwriting in sound and style. Over the years, he has finished more than 70 Drum & Bass tunes, almost 30 Hip Hop tunes (as "Oberton", with Eli MC) and also some Techno/House tunes. He has definitely succeeded in the task of creating his own signature sound, has released 20 Drum & Bass tunes (8 are on vinyl, 11 are free downloads) and can be called Germany's most underrated technoid Drum & Bass artist. And he did it again, he made yet another good tune... What else can be said? "Aether" is a strong Neurofunk tool, following the rules of good mixability with an athmospheric intro based on a deep synth line, a decent midrange, a dramatic breakdown, a strong minimalistic beat and a rumbling bassline.

(the city that has already brought to the world

Syneptic is a DJ and producer from Vienna (Austria) and a
member of the Shakehead crew who do what they are named like.
Besides keeping himself busy with Drum & Bass, he does produce
experimental Electro House under the pseudonyme "Bazuco".
He made his name heard in the Drum & Bass scene for the first
time when he won 3rd place in the famous Offkey remix competition
in 2007 with his (not released) remix of Raiden's "Alter Ego".
More remixes and collabos with Zubcore are in progress, and he has
released two tunes on the respected Hungarian netlabel "Black Hoe".

Over the past two years, Walder has released a couple of
technoid Drum & Bass tunes, and "Gorale" is one in this field
that is too unusual to fit the subgenre category pidgeonholing:
its properly crafted beat, the driving percussion works and
the subtle midrange riff create a strong forward movement,
while the wobbly bassline makes it almost border to Jump Up.
But the tune does actually not cross this border and stays techy.
