Following three artist singles, TILT004 is the first split release on Tilt-Recordings.
After the sound of Budoka (Darmstadt, Germany) on T!LT#001 and TILT002, the debut tunes by amex/Kaiza (Mannheim, Germany) on TILT003 have gained the interest of the more technoid DNB loving end of the scene. These were followed by two releases on the free mp3 netlabel T-FREE ("Schlontz" by amex/Kaiza and "Invisible Killer" by Budoka), which have been acknowledged in the DNB community all over the world. Now on TILT004 amex/Kaiza and Budoka go for a shared release to bring their two different approaches to technoid DNB together on one vinyl: innovative Techno-DNB and solid Neurofunk.
amex/Kaiza - "Sourcream"
Mannheim's finest deliver another dancefloor-smashing stepper, designed to take the listener on a trip into the world of uncompromising Techno-DNB. Like "Shrinz" it is a harsh and bouncing tool to move everybody`s ass. After a DJ friendly intro, the drop and stabs paying tribute to Detroit, the tune seems to be on it's highest point... But just then it drops deeper into counterdynamic arrangements and doubles the pace. Again, the genuine beat and percussion works in combination with the on-point use of Techno stabs and vocals as lead and rhythmic elements roll the hell out of the devil, displaying the way tunes should be nowadays according to amex/Kaiza's point of view.
Budoka - "Whiplash" RMX
The logo side of TILT004 exemplifies the flip side of the label sound: subtle fx and elctronic elements over a huge midrange/sub bass construct and an also rolling yet more organic beat, still keeping some melody. The intro builds up a deep, catchy and almost housy atmosphere only to drop into Budoka`s very own interpretation of massive Neurofunk to tear up dancefloors. Various fills sum up and turn to a further role in the everplaying antagonism between the straight groove and the atmospheric deepness. (The original tune "Whiplash" had been produced in 2001 and got positive feedback on dubplate, but has never been released on vinyl. Now, years later, Budoka has made a remix while upgrading the sound quality to DNB standards of today and adding some new structure and elements, eventually creating a new tune different to the original.)

T-FREE014 and T-FREE-3EP008 bring another new name and a well known name:
Malsum are two newcomers from Spain who have had no releases yet, while
Typecell has been away from the Drum & Bass scene for more than half a year
and now returns with a 3-EP on T-FREE showing his deeper musical side
and that he had not been sleeping during all this time, appearently.

T-FREE-3EP006 comes from Destination Unknown:
Destination Unknown existed as a Producer/DJ Team between 2003 and 2005,
with members Insanity, Deadline and Bass Tikal.
After some years of producing Breakbeat/Jungle, a release on Knite Force
and on his own label Reanimation and after having deejayed on several big
events like One Nation Germany, Dreamland, One Love and Rheinkultur Cologne,
Insanity started to produce Drum N Bass and teamed up in the end of 2003
with his friend Deadline who had already been producing Techno before,
to form the duo Destination Unknown.
They hooked up with other producers and DJs very fast and were known all
over Germany. Hannover's very own DJ Bass Tikal was so confident about
their production that he joined Destination Unknown and played his gigs
under this name in 2004. They started their own label Incubation Records,
but the project stopped after it's first release.
In 2005 Deadline focussed on his study and Bass Tikal started his label
Phunkfiction, while Insanity spent more and more time alone in his studio.
He decided to produce on his own and finally changed his name to Dementia.
At the moment he is doing a few collaborations with producers like Pyro,
D-Struct (Robot Death Squad/Identity), Catacomb and the NME Click.
In April 2006 the "No Escape" Remix by Bad Robot has been released as mp3
on Shadybrain - see www.shadybrain.net - and the yet unreleased tunes by
Destination Unknown are finally published on T-FREE.

The 4th T-FREE-3EP also goes against the borders of DNB.
This time not with amex' minimal Techno-DNB, but with more
experimental beats by Hi-Lar, deep and without compromise.
Though this seems like a break to the style of T-FREE,
it is the try to integrate a more experimental approach,
without getting too far away from the original idea.

the third release on tilt-recordings sees the vinyl debut of two upcoming producers from Germany's Drum N Bass capital who have been in the scene for quite some time:
Mannheim's very own Bad Boy Kaiza and the incredible bongomax from the Trio-Music crew.
Bad Boy Kaiza, co-labelowner of tilt-recordings, has been already playing his role in the dnb scene for years with parties, the radio show "DMF", his ragga sideproject "burnin trees" and (last but not least) deejaying. better known for his highly consistent mixsets, Kaiza teamed up here for these two technoid joints with amex, who has been forming his definition of Techno Drum N Bass since 2000 and recently published a lot of his older tunes on the informal free 320' mp3 label T-FREE. and as you can hear from the tunes on this release, these guys sold their souls to the techno devil...

on a solid fundament of techfunk elements with a growling midrange, a very present offbeat bassdrum in combination with the use of innovative stabs, beat samples and many subtle percussion elements in a complex arrangement lead to an outstanding groove and kick this tune beyond everyday-dnb. with it's dynamic hihats, precise hitting beat and percussion elements and vocals working as lead sounds, this is some serious beattechno, funky and driving as hell. it even does not forget to give tribute to detroit, and the mini- breaks are just the icing on the cake. this tune definitely does the bounce!
amex/Kaiza - "Next Level Nature"
while constantly generating a deep and catching atmo, the beat appears step by step in a dj-friendly intro. after the bridge the tune comes in as a king size neuro roller, with contra-dynamic midranges and stabs and synths and fx and all, but also with an unusual element: jungle-ish bird voices spiced with destroyed vocals, which give the tune a schizophrenic character in combination with the sharp amex trademark stabs. many variations and mini-breaks keep this steam engine exciting till the end while rolling its path through the techno jungle and make it more than a solid tool.
