Our first release of 2007 begins with a solo 12" from none other than Macc.
A) Nuñez
Tight, fractured drums skipping through the foreboding intro signal paranoid
1970s soundscapes and the intensity of an avant-garde jazz quartet on wax.
Nuñez subverts today's predictable drum and bass logic with its use of space,
droning brass and sinister vocal fragments, delivering a superb exercise in
dynamic tension. Masterful stuff from Barking's Jazz fanatic.

Forging Kool and the Gang into new, impossibly lithe patterns that weave
against rhythmic sublow, blissed-out synth pulses and pacific-state strings,
Macc shows us he can flip the script at will, creating future music that recalls
the best atmospheric jungle without resorting to Speed-era clichés. Clearly a
highlight in Macc's already impressive career and one Transmute is proud
to bring to you.

Имя первого в особенном представлении не нуждается, финский breakbeat вундеркинд, один из самых интересных продюсеров в drum and bass, создатель неповторимого глубокого атмосферного drumfunk звучания, владелец лейбла Lightless – Янне Хатула больше известный как Fanu / FanuSamurai.
Fanu пришел в drum and bass в середине 90х, которые он считает основополагающими в формировании как и самого стиля, так и собственного стиля Fanu. На его творчество оказали влияние такие музыканты как Photek, Tek9, Source Direct, Goldie, Roni Size, и лэйблы, такие как Metalheadz и Good Looking.
Основной акцент в своей музыки Fanu делает на так сказать breakbeat action, это то, что по его мнению, было присуще именно музыке того времени и так нравилось в ней ему. FanuSamurai - downtempo альтер эго Янне, выпускает материал, который похож на D&B, но все же выпадает из привычного определения D&B. «Для поддержания и развития своих идей я много общался с Future Sound of London, Underworld, Dj Shadow, Dj Krust, Amon Tobin и многими другими»,- говорит Fanu. Альбом FanuSamurai под названием “Focused Mind” был хитом продаж mp3 магазинов, вышел на Pauze Records в декабре 2006.
Весной-летом 2007 у Fanu выходит новый двойной альбом, часть downtempo, часть uptempo. Также в будущем выйдет совместная работа с известнейшим бас-гитаристом Bill Laswell.

it's a compressed-to-fuck, grimily eq'd mix of techno/beats/breaks/random/heavy/tweaks/etc. that slowly makes it to d'n'b tempo with some older tunes that i had lying around - word. i accidentally hit stop at the end too, sorry about that...
although i definitely appreciate cycom's comments (to the end of the world!! seriously that is toooo nice embarrassed embarrassed embarrassed embarrassed ), it's honestly a LOOSE mix, just all unfinished loops and ideas that sound better in a mix. it's unnecessarily busy in spots and i need some better transitional material between the techno and d'n'b knowhatimsayin'. i even put in a tune that sounds like Fear Factory playing dubstep near the end. not for everyone, but hey, what can ya do... honest words, no fishing for compliments or anything.
lemme know if the link dies or anything and thanks for listening, i'm open for any honest feedback.

Austria is a country with a rich musical heritage. Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and the Strauss family all called it home at some point. It is not, however, widely known for its Drum'n'bass heritage.
RMF is on a mission to change that. With a 12" already under his belt thanks to 13music, and releases forthcoming with Plainaudio and Syncopathic, we're very lucky to have him here on Exegene.
A-side Rhodesia skilfully edits its way through 6 minutes of the finest jazz stylings, with some rude flute noodling and an upright bass to die for. By the time Erronel drops, the club has closed and the music is dying into the night. RMF strips the jazz motif down to its bare essentials; a bass stab here, a sax lick there, and more of the same sick edits throughout.
