WAILY (Mayhem, Terrorcraft), Finland
Ville Immonen has been driven to all kind of music as long as he can remember, but the closest thing to his heart has always been electronic music. After listening hardtrance and hardcore for the very first time... there simply was no turning back. Main reason for Waily to start Dj'ing was the lack of real Hardcore music in Finland.
Waily loves hard music and that can be seen in his performances. By playing Hardstyle and uncommercial Hardcore he has earned his place as a member & promoter of wellknown concepts: Mayhem, Terrorcraft.
Waily is one of the three founders of Terrorcraft along with Input C and Nomic. These hard music loving artists just ended up together, created a few tracks and became a very good friends. The idea of Terrorcraft developed little by little and finally at the end of 2003 they decided to organize a party. The very first Terrorcraft event came true in January 23th 2004. Since then this enegetic concept has evolved a lot and stands tall with a bunch of high quality Dj's and Live performances.
Hailing from Brazil, Vinicius Honorio aka BTK is proving to be one of the most exciting new DJ/Producer to emerge in the electronic music scene and has already built an impressive back catalogue of productions to date. Being a DJ since 1999, he started to get involved with electronic music in 2000 and since then he’s been fully committed to the dnb scene.
Identity is a collective of producers spread out over Brazil and USA each bringing their own talents and fresh sounds to Drum & Bass taken the steps needed to learn to follow vibes and ideas through an online merging of their home studios. In a lot of respects the Identity sound is truly a yearning for the merging of the dance floor vibe so prevalent in current Drum & Bass and a twisted mix of techno influences into their sound.
Never one has to be tired of BTK has proved his ability to switch between genres with easy as evident in their techno projects and other innovative productions, their determination to smash down the boundries that have long been separating underground music styles grows with every track that is created. His DJ performances are very dynamic and full of energy, always keeping the groove as priority which has led him to perform internationally with a busy schedule, after his debut in Europe in early 2007.
His 14 years as a professional DJ he has shown a talent that has seen him DJ around the world as well as in his homeland Finland. He is now one of the wanted Hard Dance DJs from Finland. With a combination of superb technical mixing and a raw hard sound, normally Hardstyle / Hardcore and Hard Trance, he leaves each crowd begging for more. His DJ skills have been showcased throughout Finland where he, alongside other top Finnish DJs like Proteus and Gary B, usually headlines the big gigs and he has residencies for both Fantasy and Millennium, two of Finlands biggest regular parties. Besides that he played at all the big tour nights of clubs such as Gatecrasher, Sundissential and Nukleuz when they have toured in Finland. Sasha F also plays on a regular base in Russia, Estonia, Thailand at the famous Full Moon parties, England at clubs such as Headcharge, Riff Raff, Pickle, Kaned, Aura Orange, Logic, Escape From Samsara and Gods Kitchen, Germany at the Bridge and The Netherlands at the Illegal Vibes parties, Elusive and Audio shock as well in Italy at Insound and Love Parade 2006. He was also one of only four DJs that was part of the Invasion Tour 2003 in America doing 20 gigs in 40 nights, coast to coast. Muusika huvitas mind juba väga noores eas aga kuskil 1993 aastal kui olin 13 siis sai hangitud endale esimesed Thunderdome kogumikud, mida sai siis kodus algelisest tehnikast kuulatud.Sealt arenes edasi muusika mängimise ja tegemise vastu. Sain kutse raadio 2 kui oli aasta 1994 kus viisin läbi noortele suunatud muusika saadet.Korraldasin erinevaid tantsupidusid .Aga Hardcore ei jäänud ainukeseks stiiliks mis mulle meeldi sellele lisandusid aastate jooksul põhiliselt kõik elektroonilise muusika stiilid. juba aastal 1996 sai ka kätt proovitud esimeste muusikaprodutseerimis programmidega nagu Sound club ja Fast tracker.Peale mõningast pausi leidsin et Eestis on ikka karmimate stiilide austajaid juurde tekkinud ja sai Eesti hardcore elule hakatud elu sisse puhuma ja nii sündiski minu 1 hardcore yrituste sari KÜTE aastal 2006 11dets. Pärast kui olin mõned üritused vägagi õnnestunult läbi viinud hakkas noortel rohkem ja rohkem tekkima huvi Hardcore muusika vastu ja samas mitte ainult hardcore vaid ka karmimad Drummi ja bassi helid hullutasid noori.. ja juba 2007 aasta veebruaris korraldasin esimese HardKnocks of drumandbassi millest on nyydseks yks parimaid karmi DnB yritusi kasvanud terves Eestis.Mentali kui esineja nime alt olen produtseerinud mõned hardcore träkid ja lemmik stiilideks on Hardcore,darkcore ja ka karmid DnB saundid.Esinejaid ja artiste on aastatega kogunenud mitmekümneid kes kõik kuuluvad hardcore/DnB stiilide eliiti.

PIXELFACTOR: Винни, спасибо за то, что нашел время для этого интервью!
BTK: Тебе спасибо, Эрик, ты всегда помогаешь мне распространять миксы.
PIXELFACTOR: Ты из Бразилии, но сейчас находишься в Европе, да? Насколько давно? И какие отличия ты видишь в европейской клубной танцевальной культуре от бразильской?
BTK: Я родился и вырос в Рио де Жанейро, жил несколько лет в Сан-Паулу, это самый большой город в Бразилии. В этом году я решил переехать, и сейчася обитаю в Швейцарии. Я играл на некотором количестве вечеринок в Европе в последний год, сделав свой первый европейский тур. Поскольку я бразилец, большинство диджеев и промоутеров думают, что я люблю ликвид и что моя музыка полна вокала на португальском и гитарных мелодий, однако мой саунд несколько тяжелее и мрачнее, так что я думаю, в Европе у меня намного больше возможностей, чем в Бразилии, поскольку там солнечно и оттого все любят вокальные треки. И еще важное отличие: в Европе большинство диджеев играют с Serato или CDJ-плееров, в Бразилии же до сих пор спорят по вопросу "Винил или CD".
PIXELFACTOR: У тебя были релизы на Barcode, Uprising, Obscene, Sinuous and Techno Artillery… Расскажи нам о своих планах, чего можно ждать от тебя в будущем?
BTK: У меня выйдет несколько новых треков в 2008. В прошлом году я чересчур ленился и не заканчивал треки, в этом году же я стараюсь сфокусироваться на продакшене, что соответствующе отражается на моем гастрольном графике. Вместе с Jonas из Task Horizon мы сделали ремикс на Moonraker (Kaos, Karl K & Jae Kennedy), его уже играло множество именитых диджеев, он выйдет после этого лета на лейбле Джея Кеннеди. Другая работа, от которой я многого жду, называется Infected World, коллаб с Manifest. Она выходит первым релизом на его лейбле. В 2008 выйдет также еще один коллаб с Jonas из Task Horizon под названием Generator на лейбле Uprising проекта Concord Dawn. И еще выйдет трек Project 2501, написанный с моим русским братом Nphonix'ом, на пластинке лейбла проекта Counterstrike Algorythm.
PIXELFACTOR: Опиши твой стиль и саунд в продюсинге.
BTK: Ну вообще, когда я начинаю что-то делать, я фокусируюсь на груве и на том, как это работает на танцполе, вдохновляюсь моими заводными бразильскими корнями, затем техно-влияниями, и в последней стадии трек заполняется тяжелыми стабами и темными ризами с небольшим добавлением acid techno вайба.
PIXELFACTOR: Как давно ты делаешь музыку?
BTK: Драм энд бейсом занимаюсь с середины 2005, но также я работаю в TeknoBeat, популярном "стиле" в Рио де Жанейро в 2001-2002м годах, это смесь Funk Carioca с некоторыми HardHouse-семплами.
PIXELFACTOR: На чем ты работаешь?
BTK: Лэптоп Centrino Dual Core с 2мя гигабайтами оперативки, HD25 и Cubase SX3.
PIXELFACTOR: За какими продюсерами ты следишь и какими ты вдохновлялся?
BTK: На меня повлиял драмнбейс середины 1999 года от Bad Company, Cause 4 Concern, Ed Rush & Optical, Calyx и моего любимого dnb артиста, Raiden, которого я впервые встретил только в прошлом году, также меня вдохновляло множество техно продюсеров, таких как Dave Clarke, Chris Liebing, Umek, Valentino Kanzyani…
PIXELFACTOR: Ты играл в множестве крупных городов, в которых представлена драмнбейс сцена. Какой из городов тебе больше по душе?
BTK: Я люблю играть в странах вроде России или Хорватии, в прошлом году в клубе K4 в Словении была отличная вечеринка. Я также был на мероприятии Autopsy в Брайтоне (UK), где была лучшая саунд система, на которой я когда-либо играл.
PIXELFACTOR: Ты пробился наверх в уровне в последние годы, какие советы ты можешь дать новым продюсерам?
BTK: Я родился и вырос в Рио де Жанейро, где люди любят этническую музыку (я не исключение) и драмнбейс сцена там не слишком велика. Я всегда доверял своим чувствам и старался как мог, будучи продюсером и диджеем. В наше время любой может задумать карьеру диджея/продюсера, поскольку гораздо легче стало наладить контакт с лейблами через интернет. В первую очередь необходимо делать отличные работы, и вас подпишут на качественные лейблы. Я стараюсь привнести что-то новое в драмнбейс, когда я сижу в студии с друзьями. Никогда не отказывайтесь от своих мечтаний. Когда вы делаете хорошее дело, рано или поздно вам воздается, и вы получаете удовольствие от этого.
PIXELFACTOR: Ты также серьезно занимаешься техно, расскажи подробнее, пожалуйста.
BTK: Хехе, ну не так уж и серьезно, но да, я работаю как техно диджей/продюсер в качестве побочного проекта под алиасом Vinicius Honorio. В этом году выйдет моя первая EP в конце июля, на хорватском лейбле Techno Artillery. Я планирую организовать специальный техно-тур после этого в качестве рекламы релиза, я этому вполне рад.
PIXELFACTOR: Как выглядят твои планы на гастроли до конца этого года?
BTK: Ну все достаточно плотно, этот год достаточно хорош для меня, не могу сказать ничего плохого. Планирую несколько мероприятий летом в Европе. Уже подтверждено несколько вечеринок в Хорватии, Чехии и Словакии.
PIXELFACTOR: Какие-нибудь приветы передашь?

PIXELFACTOR: Your from Brazil, but residing now in Europe right ? For how long, and how do you find European club/dance culture different to that of Brazil’s ?
Vinni: I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, lived in Sao Paulo a couple of years, which is the biggest city in Brazil. This year i decided to move, and for now, I’m based in Switzerland. I’ve been playin a couple gigs in Europe since last year, when i sorted my 1st European tour. For being Brazilian, most djs and promoters thought that I am a liquid head or that my music is full of Portuguese vocals and guitars, but my sound is a bit more heavy and darker, so I think in Europe I had much more opportunities than in Brazil because it’s a sunny country and everyone loves the Vocals there. And another big difference is that in Europe most djs are used to play with serato and CDJ’s… Dj’s in Brazil are still arguing on the CD vs Vinyl issue.
PIXELFACTOR: You’ve had releases on Barcode, Uprising, Obscene, Sinuous and Techno Artillery…tell us your highlights and what we can expect in the future ?
Vinni: I’ve got a couple of new tunes forthcoming for 2008. Last year i was too lazy to finish tracks so this year I am trying to focus more on production which reflects straight on my gigs. Got this remix for Moonraker (Kaos, Karl K & Jae Kennedy) which i made with Jonas (Task Horizon), it has been played by a couple of good names in the scene, it’s going to be released after this summer on Jae Kennedy’s label. Another tune which i expect a lot of is called Infected World, a collab with Manifest. It’s coming out as 001 for his label. In 2008 there’s a collab with Jonas (Task Horizon) forthcoming at Concord Dawn’s label Uprising, called Generator. And another one called Project 2501 with my Russian brother Nphonix, forthcoming as 12″ on Counterstrike’s label, Algorythm.
PIXELFACTOR: Describe your style and sound of which you produce ?
Vinni: Basically when i start making some beats, i focus on the groove and how it works on the dancefloor, influenced by my Brazilian groovy roots but after that my techno side kicks in and a track always ends filled with hard stabs and dark reeces with a bit of this acid techno vibe on my the tracks.
PIXELFACTOR: How long have you been making music ?
Vinni: Drum and Bass since middle of 2005, but i’m also working on TeknoBeat, a famous “style” in Rio de Janeiro around 2001/2002, it’s a mix of Funk Carioca with some HardHouse samples.
PIXELFACTOR: What is your production setup ?
Vinni: A Laptop Centrino Dual Core with 2 gig memory ram, HD25 and Cubase SX3.
PIXELFACTOR: What producers do you look up to and are influenced from ?
Vinni: My influences for dnb comes from the middle of 1999 from Bad Company, Cause 4 Concern, Ed Rush & Optical, Calyx and my favorite artist in dnb, Raiden, who I met for the first time last year, also from a lot of Techno producers like Dave Clarke, Chris Liebing, Umek, Valentino Kanzyani…
PIXELFACTOR: You’ve played in most big cities with a DNB presence…which was your favorite and why ?
Vinni: I loved playing in countries like Russia and Croatia, last year at Club K4 in Slovenia was an awesome party. I also had a gig in Brighton (UK), called Autopsy, where i played on the best sound system up till now.
PIXELFACTOR: You have hustled your way up the ranks over the past few years…what advice can you give to new coming or aspiring producers ?
Vinni: I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro where people in that city love regional music (so do I) and the Drum and Bass scene over there isn’t that big at all. I always trusted my feelings and kept trying my best as a producer and DJ. These days everyone can plan his career as a dj/producer because it’s easier to get in touch with labels over the internet. Basically you need to make good tunes and you have to get signed on quality labels. I try to bring something new to Drum and Bass when I hit the studio with my friends. Never give up about your dreams. When you make good things, they get back to you and in the end, it’s all about having fun.
PIXELFACTOR: You are also big in the techno game..please explain ?
Vinni: Heheh not big at all, but yeah, i’ve been working on Techno (DJ/Producer) as a sideline project under the alias Vinicius Honorio. This year i’m getting my first EP released around end of July, for this Croatian label called TECHNO ARTILLERY. I’m planning some Techno special tour after it to promote this EP, which i am pretty excited about.
PIXELFACTOR: What is your tour schedule looking like for the rest of 2008 ?
Vinni: It’s getting busy, i am personally having a really good year, nothing bad to say about it. I’m also looking forward for this summer in Europe. I’ve got a couple of gigs confirmed in Croatia, Czech Republic & Slovakia.
PIXELFACTOR: Any shouts you would like to give to the crew ?
